We decided last minute to to head to Chimney Rock NC for the day. What a beautiful state.
Chimney Rock, is a 535-million-year-old monolith for which the Park is named, it surely is considered one of the most iconic sites in North Carolina. Arriving at the top you have 75-mile panoramic views of Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure. We hiked (over 500 steps ) to the top of this towering 315-foot granite rock. At an elevation of 2,280 feet above sea level, this mountaintop experience will take your breath away. The climb is well worth the effort!
We also hiked the 3/4 mile to see the beautiful ( Hickory Nut Falls ) 404-foot waterfall, this waterfall is the second highest of its kind east of the Mississippi River and a backdrop for several scenes in the movie The Last of the Mohicans. Here is the link to the Live Video.
